PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MEETING

Wednesday, February 8th, 2017

TOPIC: “Data Analytics and Dashboards: Putting Your Data to Work to Increase Efficiency and Profitability”

SPEAKER: Jon Thompson

Location: Renaissance Denver Stapleton Hotel

Jon Thompson will show us how to leverage the emerging field of self-serve business intelligence and analytics tools to create “The Dashboard Effect,” where every employee from the CEO down has the insights they need to make better decisions, and to focus on profitability. Leading companies in Supply-Chain Management are becoming more data-driven to remain competitive in today’s hyper-productive business environment.

Jon will provide us a survey of the field of available solutions, but will spotlight Microsoft’s BI stack, as most companies are “Microsoft Shops” (and probably use Office 365), and because Power BI is the lowest cost BI platform on the market (yet rated #1 by Forrester and Gartner). He will outline the best practices for dashboards that not only have impact, but that employees feel compelled to look at daily. We will look at what the experts say regarding the role of analytics and dashboards in keeping pace with the current trend toward transparency in business culture. And we’ll show how supply-chain managers can quickly harness their data and put it to work by outlining the tactical steps for quickly getting up to speed in data analytics and dashboards.

Jon Thompson is the founder of Blue Margin, Inc., has 20 years of executive experience. He was the co-founder of Digital Reliance, a venture-backed software company that grew to 500 employees. In his book, The Visible Enterprise, Jon sheds light on how leading companies are leveraging a new breed of business intelligence tools to ignite new growth and profitability. Jon makes the case that "The Dashboard Effect" is the simplest, lowest-cost way to transform your company, from the CEO down.
