Join us at our September PDM as the Vice President of Quality Assurance for Hunter Douglas North America, Michael Cienian, provides insight into the HDNA Quality System Review (QSR). This internal quality assessment program is now used in 20 factories across North America making window covering components and finished custom shades and blinds.

Hunter Douglas is the world-wide market leader for high-end window coverings. Hunter Douglas products are known for their innovation, style, energy efficiency, child safety and high quality. In 2011, HDNA Senior Leadership launched an effort to increase employee engagement around product quality and design a pathway toward excellence. The HDNA Quality System Review (QSR) is the improvement tool that was created to drive that effort.
Mike will explain the history behind the HDNA QSR, how the tool was designed and how it was deployed. He will share the key elements of the tool, show how the QSR process works and present the content typically found in the QSR feedback report that recipients receive. HDNA Corporate Quality has worked with the Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence (RMPEx) and Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation (MAPI) groups to benchmark and assess the QSR improvement program. Mike will share insights from those effort as well as results metrics from the QSR.
Mike has been the Vice President of Quality Assurance for Hunter Douglas since 2007, and prior to that served in executive roles for Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing for Springs Window Fashions, Nissan Forklift NA, and Beloit Corporation. He serves the window covering industry as a Trustee for the WCSC (Window Covering Safety Council) and is the President of the AERC (Attachments Energy Rating Council).
